David Conner, the Geodetic Adviser to the State of Ohio, is based at the Center for Mapping. His office was created in 1987 through a cooperative
agreement with the Federal Government, the Ohio Departmentsof Natural Resources and Transportation, and the Center for Mapping. He works for the
National Geodetic Survey , a division of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
National Spatial Reference System
Mr. Conner promotes the use and improvement of the National Spatial Reference System (NSRS). The NSRS is made up of accurately located geodetic control points that serve as the common mapping and surveying reference base for latitude, longitude, and height throughout the
United States. The NSRS serves as the reference framework for a multipurpose GIS/LIS, helping to ensure compatibility, and permitting linkage of the various types of data text.
