     The Center for Mapping's mission includes research in the following topic areas: theoretical frameworks for GIS and spatial information, automated cartography, GIS representation, multi-media visualization, quality control, sensor integration/orientation, GPS/IMSU-based navigation, mobile mapping, photogrammetry, data fusion, experimental instrumentation, image processing, and image understanding. The Ohio Department of Transportation, Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Ohio Aerospace Institute, National Science Foundation, National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, and the U.S. Geological Survey fund major research projects at the Center. The Center also serves as a focal point for the National Consortium for Remote Sensing in Transportation - Flows (NCRST-F), a research project funded by the U.S. Department of Transportation. The National Geodetic Survey (NGS) Advisor to Ohio is located at CFM.
